home.

the last time we've been home to washington was at christmas! gasp. it's been far too long for me. instead of jetting away to hawaii just yet this summer for our one-year anniversary, we are going to be soaking up briar, cohen, tenley, and i imagine walks to coffee with tonka, mom and the siblings (and perhaps one of her five, or is it four cats?). oh how i miss that rainy state. i can't wait to fly into all that greenery and drive with little traffic.

ps. whenever i see a picture of  just "us", i try to imagine a baby somewhere in there. i'm starting to cherish all the "just us" things.

over the weekend.

despite aj working saturday and sunday, we managed to see bridesmaids, have a bbq and take some photos of growing baby e. i managed to shop all day on sat, and aj sent me to my first prenatal massage on sunday. baby e was so squirmy the first 15 minutes or so. he finally relaxed and must have fell asleep to the calming music. i think he is fond of massages, and would like them more often...

aj and i are working on our bbq skills. in our very known different eating habits, he mentioned the other day, he likes dinners that involved steak, corn and potatoes. as he put it, "normal american food." i like to follow more along the lines of inventive muffins with coconut oil, applesauce, chia seeds and other natural things. so i bought him exactly what he requested. it only took a call from trader joes to inquire what steak to buy. i've never bought a steak before. it was just this year that i learned what pork tenderloin was, (it took several times at browsing the meat section to spot it). we sipped trader joes sparkling pink lemonade, and he ate steak that swam in bloody juice while i happily dined on a veggie burger. it was sunday night bliss.

on mother's day aj decided i shall receive half of what a normal mother would, since baby e is half way there at 22 weeks. so kind. we woke early and headed for a bike ride up to santa monica. the sun was just starting to heat the day. andrea and greg joined us for our first brunch at the venice farmers market. it is quite the place to be and eat all their over-sized food. although this was my second breakfast to oats already, i managed to tackle my pancake to half. this was all while i had spilled syrup on my toes as i had tilted my plate a little too far... lovely stickiness.
